Valentines Mardi Gras Choco Yarn Fest WHOOO!

So, as most people know, I love yarn. I love knitting. I love crochet. I love all things fiber. I love it. Back in the day, in order to get deeper into yarn world, I joined several local knitting groups. I live in a small foothill community, with a small-town feel, and most of the groups I joined were full of members who were housewives, or retirees, and I am friends with all of them. In the ensuing years, I started my own group (the Pasadena Crochet Meet-up), but I still regularly go to all the meetings of all the clubs I have attended for years.

Why do I bring this up? Because I have another friend, who has absolutely zero interest in anything yarn, and he always refers to my yarn activities as “Yenta-Fests.” That’s right – Yenta-Fests!

Now if you don’t know what a Yenta is, it is an old Yiddish term which refers to an old gossip. So, apparently – in his mind – we are all just a bunch of old crones sitting around gossiping.

This is NOT appreciated because we’re So NOT!

Case and point – the monthly potluck at my local knitting club. But this was not just any potluck. In struggling to come up with a theme for this potluck, we got a little wild and decided to throw a potluck to celebrate all the things we had failed to celebrate earlier. So this potluck was dubbed the “Valentine’s Day, Chocolate, Mardi Gras and Foods We Love” party! Would a bunch of Yentas throw a party like that? I think not!

We each brought some type of food to fit with the theme. Some Asparagii, and of course there was a lot of chocolate!!! I mean who doesn’t LOVE chocolate!!!

My friend Christina showed what she made with Red Heart Boutique Swanky. Check out her purple cowl.

And I made a hat!

We were all in a Chocolaty Mardi-Gras Yarn Frenzy – Wild Women!!!!!!

So take THAT mean-friend-of-mine who dares to call us Yentas! We yarn lovers can kick off our shoes and get our freak on with the best of them!
